Abstract

Adequate knowledge about giftedness, creativity and teaching epistemology are required for the teacher who works with gifted students. This professional is not expected to be also a gifted, but to demonstrate passion and expertise in his area, to have an academic focus and to employ strategies to promote creativity. By means of a non-systematic literature review, it was noticed that the education of this teacher should exceed basic concepts, in order to develop beliefs, values and socio-personal characteristics. Self-efficacy, intrinsic motivation, sense of humor, tolerance of ambiguity, enthusiasm, engagement and flexibility are
attributes appreciated by gifted students in the school context. Studying the teaching profile is important to foster the identification and development of talents in school.
