The pandemic caused by the COVID-19 virus caught not only health professionals off guard, but also education, which had to make changes in its pedagogical planning indefinitely. According to data from the United Nations, more than 90% of students enrolled on the planet had to stay at home to continue studying remotely through computers and mobile phones, which gave a new configuration to the way of teaching and learning. In view of this, this article aims to analyze the use of ICTs in Brazilian public schools, through a theoretical review that substantiates the use of these tools in the classroom, iming at a more adequate planning for the future. Furthermore, as research methodology a theoretical review on the use of these technologies in the school environment was carried out. As a result, one can highlight the lack of structure of schools, unpreparedness of teachers and students to implement the Emergency Remote Learning - ERE, proposed by the education authorities due to the pandemic. With his, we conclude that public policies are needed to adapt schools to this new reality that insists on remaining and whose impacts are incalculable.
