Abstract

Gifted families are considered fortunate in many respects to have highly capable children, yet these families face challenges and problems directly related to the characteristics of these individuals. These peculiar demands can generate stress and anxiety, influencing parental expectations and practices, and the way
wich talent is recognized and stimulated. Thus, the purpose of this study is to describe how the processes of identification, precocity, asynchrony and the individual and socioemotional characteristics of gifted individuals influence the dynamics and family relationships. This article is a non-systematic literature review, the descriptive nature, supported by book chapters, theoretical essays, and empirical research.
