Abstract

The present study focused on analyzing the possible relationship between high intellectual abilities (ACI) and emotional intelligence (EI) in boys and girls aged 8 to 10 years from the City of Córdoba, Argentina. A quantitative, explanatory, cross-sectional and correlational study was carried out through the application of two
standardized instruments-tests: BADyG E2-r by Yuste (2014) and EQ-i:YV by Bar-On (1997). These were applied to 99 participants. From the results obtained, no substantial differences were identified in relation to EI scores between boys and girls who presented ACI indicators (42.5%) (Single talents and multiple talents), in relation to the control group (46.5%). %). In general, students with ACI indicators in the present study self-reported good emotional adjustment, good adaptability and intra- and interpersonal skills, as well as adequate strategies to manage stress.
